Environmental Health Officer (Food)

North Tyneside Council are seeking a professional and enthusiastic Environmental Health Officer or Practitioner to join the Environmental Health Food Team within the Public Protection Service. An officer with a specialism in food is required and holds the CIEH Environmental Health Registration Board Certificate or is working towards or has attained CIEH Chartered Status in Environmental Health.

 The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated professional with the relevant level of experience in an Environmental Health background. This is a varied role to include all areas of food safety, and the candidate must demonstrate competency in carrying out high risk food hygiene and food standards inspections.

North Tyneside Council acts as the Port Health Authority for the River Tyne which includes food and ship sanitation inspections. The candidate would have the opportunity to be part of the port health rota and therefore experience in this area would be desirable however inhouse training can be provided.

Previous experience in enforcement action would be desirable including service of notices or court proceedings.
