We are currently recruiting for a Food Safety Officer for a full-time role (37 hours per week) in our Food Safety Team. This is an exciting opportunity where you will be involved in implementing and delivering a complex, reactive and planned workload in relation to delivering official food controls, investigating complaints, food sampling, investigating infectious disease and taking appropriate enforcement action to drive up compliance levels within the Borough to help protect the public and legitimate businesses.

To be considered you must hold one of the baseline qualifications as specified in the Food Law Code of Practice and have completed your competency development portfolio/log book and the professional interview. As a minimum you will hold the Higher Certificate in Food Control or equivalent and be a CIEH-registered Food Safety Practitioner or registered with EHORB.

You will need to have an in-depth current knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, priorities, and strategies to secure compliance. Experience of working in a role involving the regulation of health and safety or licensing would be advantageous.

In addition to routine and reactive work, there will be many other food hygiene, standards and health and safety opportunities and experiences for you to take advantage of.

You must have a positive attitude and be keen to work in a busy team providing a customer focused, risk based and professional service. You will be highly motivated and be expected to deliver against a challenging work plan.
