Senior Environmental Health Practitioner

What’s the role all about?

This is a dynamic and hands-on role where you’ll be the technical expert in environmental health, leading on inspections, investigations, and enforcement across food safety, health and safety, and public health.

You’ll be the go-to person for advice, guidance, and action—whether that’s inspecting approved food establishments, coordinating responses to disease outbreaks, or investigating work related accidents in the borough. It’s a role that blends technical expertise with real-world impact, all within a supportive and forward-thinking team.

What will your day look like?

 Your day will be a lively mix of challenges and opportunities. You might be inspecting a food manufacturing site or checking imported food at the port, and by the afternoon, you could be investigating a public health incident or preparing a prosecution file.

You’ll be juggling service requests, conducting sampling, liaising with national agencies, and offering expert advice to businesses. Expect a mix of fieldwork, office-based reporting, and multi-agency collaboration—all driven by the goal of keeping our community safe and thriving.

Who are we looking for?

We’re on the lookout for a confident, knowledgeable, and proactive professional with a strong background in environmental health.

You’ll need to be an Environmental Health Practitioner with experience in inspections, enforcement, and stakeholder engagement. If you’re someone who can interpret complex legislation, manage challenging situations with professionalism, and bring innovative thinking to the table, we’d love to hear from you.
