Environmental Health Officer/Trainee Environmental Health Officer
We are seeking 2 x full time Environmental Health Officers / Trainee Environmental Health Officers to join the Pollution Team and 1 x part time Environmental Health Officer to join the Food Safety Team in our busy Environmental Health Department.
The posts of Environmental Health Officer are generic, and you may be required to undertake Environmental Health duties as part of the Food Safety, Environmental Protection and Health and Safety teams.
Bradford MDC is a vibrant and culturally diverse district and, as UK City of Culture 2025, this is an exciting time to join the Environmental Health Department and be part of the challenge leading up to 2025 and beyond.
You will be required to proactively engage with businesses and stakeholders to enable the Environmental Health Department to develop and deliver a high quality, cost effective and efficient service aimed at securing compliance with legislation, guidance, and best practice in line with Council policies and procedures.
You will be expected to provide advice on technical, legislative and enforcement matters relating to Environmental Health.
You will be enthusiastic, committed, self-motivated and have a ‘can-do’ attitude, including excellent verbal and written communication skills. You will also be required to work some unsociable hours as the job demands, however, with the flexitime system the Council operates, this will suit a wide range of people with their work-life balance.
The post requires a relevant degree/diploma in Environmental Health from a provider recognised by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and to be registered with the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board (EHORB) or hold Chartered status/Registration with the CIEH.
To be eligible for the trainee post you must have a recognised degree/MSc in Environmental Health or nearing the completion of the degree. We will offer the right person an opportunity to complete a structured programme of practical training to obtain registration with the CIEH.
