Level 2 Food Safety for Caterers


Who should attend?

This course is ideal for anyone working in the catering and hospitality industry (or those about to start work in the industry).

The Highfield Level 2 Award in Food Safety in Catering (RQF) is accredited and has been developed to protect customers, brand reputation and profits.

Course duration

This is a one day course (09:00 – 17:00)

Course content

The course will include the following:

  • An introduction to food safety
  • Microbiological hazards
  • Contamination hazards and controls
  • Food poisoning and its control
  • Personal hygiene
  • Design of premises and equipment
  • Cleaning and disinfection
  • Food pests and control
  • Food safety management from purchase to service
  • Food safety law and enforcement
  • Revision and examination technique


The course fee of £75 + vat (£90 inc vat) per person includes:

§  Comprehensive course materials

§  A copy of the course textbook “Food Safety Handbook” by Richard Sprenger

§  Lunch and refreshments

§  Highfield registration and exam fee


The course will be delivered in our Executive Box at Norwich City Football Club overlooking the pitch.

Courses are delivered to small groups in a warm, friendly atmosphere, to allow everyone an opportunity to ask questions and get the most from the day.


There is ample free parking on site and the venue is a short walk from Norwich station (London Liverpool St line).There is a Holiday Inn hotel on site and both Premier Inn and Travelodge hotels within a short walk.


The tutor will be Dr Andy Bowles. Andy has over 30 years’ experience in food safety gained in industry, enforcement and academia. He regularly runs training courses for Environmental Health and Trading Standards Officers as well for clients in the food industry.
