Lead Officer Support Service
LEAD OFFICER SUPPORT SERVICE
We are delighted to announce our new service which has been developed to assist food lead officers to fulfil their duties under the Food Law Code of Practice. We can provide advice and support by telephone and email as and when you need it on a fixed fee rate. We can provide a full range of legal, technical and regulatory support.
What support we can offer you?
As you may know, ABC has a Primary Authority Partnership with Norfolk County Council. The service we offer local authorities is very similar to on a primary authority partnership model, whereby we provide a set number of hours’ advice for a yearly fee. We have had many years experience supporting local authorities and some recent examples of matters that we have assisted food lead officers include:
- Notice checking service
- Approvals advice
- Assistance with food poisoning outbreak management
- Ad-hoc enforcement advice such as evidence requirements for warrants, HEPOs, food condemnation orders.
- Prosecution reviews
- Guidance on PACE interviews.
- FHRS appeals advice
- Preparation for audit
- Review and update of policies and procedures
- Assistance with Primary Authority assured advice
- Assistance with food incident management
- Food labelling queries
- Advice on novel foods
Who provides the advice?
All advice is provided by Dr Andy Bowles, who has many years’ experience working with local authorities in the management and delivery of food official controls. He is also a practising solicitor.
What is the cost?
The cost of £95 + vat per month will provide:
- 10 hours of telephone/e-mail support per year
- Reduced hourly rate for any more complex work, should you need it
- Preferential rates for ABC training events and packages
- Regular food law update bulletins from ABC
